Focado neste conceito, o Escritório Municipal da Epagri em Bom Retiro realizou um tarde de campo para apresentar aos produtores locais pastagens perenes de verão. O evento aconteceu no dia 12 de março, na propriedade da família de Manoel Júlio Ferreira, o “Maneca”, sua esposa Vera, a filha Vanessa e o genro Anderson.
Os visitantes da tarde de campo conheceram áreas da propriedade com capim Tangola e Tifton, que 60 dias após a implantação já haviam coberto o solo e estavam com 30 centímetros de altura, aptos para o pastoreio. José Kauling Sobrinho, extensionista da Epagri em Bom Retiro, fez uma explanação sobre o tema, onde demonstrou as vantagens das pastagens perenes de verão que, uma vez implantadas, demandam somente o manejo dos animais, a adubação, e a sobressemeadura com espécies anuais de inverno. “O sistema implantado e consolidado gera segurança na oferta de alimentos aos animais, bem como tranquilidade aos pecuaristas na produção de leite”, observa o extensionista.
José entende que o evento também foi um importante estímulo à troca de informações entre os pecuaristas do município de experiências já disseminadas nas suas propriedades.
